David Bruckner is an American independent film and commercial director.
He’s best known for writing and directing the first Transmission of “The Signal,” a collaborative science fiction tale that premiered at Sundance and was released theatrically by Magnolia Pictures in 2008. Originally produced for under 50,000 dollars, the film was nominated for the Independent Spirit John Cassavetes Award for achievements in Independent Film under 500,000 dollars.
David developed his DIY approach as a co-founder of the “Dailies Project,” an experimental filmmaking workshop, where he created many notable indie shorts, including the Harold Pinter inspired “Talk Show,” which premiered in competition at AFF in May 2011. He was awarded the Goethe Institute’s Artist Exchange for co-directing, alongside Tim Habeger, an experimental film/theater adaptation of Friedrich Schiller’s “The Robbers.”
Commercial clients have included Coca-Cola, Smartwater, Verizon, Halo and HiRez Studios. Music Videos for Lovett and PLS PLS (preproduction.)
David has recently directed a segment for the Horror anthology feature “V/H/S,” (Premiering at Sundance in 2012) and the Turner-funded pilot “Slow Down Atlanta.” He’s currently developing several new projects including the feature “Little Red Button.”
